Title
GATEKEEPER - The Australian Government Electronic Authentication Model
Abstract
Gatekeeper is the Australian Government policy on the deployment of Public
Key Infrastructure in Government. This policy sets out the high level
technical and policy infrastructure needed to support PKI in government.
Gatekeeper also establishes mechanisms by which Australian government
will accredit and subsequently regulate accredited PKI for use in and by
government.
Speaker Bio
Mr. Bill Osborne was appointed as the general manager of Baltimore
Technologies Pty Limited Certification Authority services in January 1999.
In this role he is responsible for the overall management of Baltimore's
two Certification Authorities (CAs) - Certificates Australia and Security
Domain. He also acts as a specialist adviser in public key technology
and encryption.
Prior to joining Baltimore Technologies Pty Limited, Mr Osborne was
manager of CA services for Zergo Asia Pacific, before that company merged
with Baltimore Technologies.
Prior to joining Zergo, Mr Osborne co-authored the Federal
government's recently released strategy on public key technology --
PROJECT GATEKEEPER. He was also involved with other government projects,
including SPEAKEASY, the federal government's high grade security
terminal product.
Mr. Osborne has a Diploma in Company Management, a Graduate Diploma
in Criminology and is currently studying for a Master of Business
Administration. Mr. Osborne also sits on the IT12/4/1 PKAF standards group.
