Moderator's Bio
Karen is responsible for the Privacy Impact Assessment for the Government of Ontariois proposed smart card. In this capacity, she is developing a report, preparing privacy opinions, tracking privacy issues, and working with architects and business analysts to develop a privacy sympathetic system. She is also assisting project counsel regarding the privacy-related provisions of the proposed smart card legislation.

Karen is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School (1993) and the Harvard Graduate School of Education (1984). Her wide-ranging experience includes developing educational physics software; determining user specifications for a provincial utility; writing an appeals manual for the Information and Privacy Commissioner/Ontario; and acting for a national, internet service provider in a website-related dispute.

Karen is a member of the Government of Ontario's Legal Team for the Electronic Commerce Project. As a former member of the York Technology Association and the Toronto Computers Lawyers Group, Karen is attempting to establish a iPrivacy Law Forumi, an informal, educational, resource group.

Karen is one of the organizers of the Conference.
