The Fourth CACR Information Security Workshop will be held on Monday, Nov. 8, 1999 at Pitney Bowes, Stamford, CT. This workshop will focus on third-party evaluation of cryptographic implementations, in particular concentrating on evaluations of Certification Authorities. Third-party evaluation criteria such as FIPS 140-1, Common Criteria, ITSEC and others will be reviewed and compared.

  • Cdn $300 (US $200).
  • For participants affiliated with an academic institution: Cdn $150 (US $100).

Accomodations

The workshop will be held at Pitney Bowes, Corporate Headquarters at 1 Elmcroft Road, Stamford, Connecticut, 3rd Floor auditorium. There has been a block of rooms reserved at the Stamford Westin Hotel and Resort, One First Stamford Place, Stamford, CT. located approximately 1 mile away from Pitney Bowes Headquarters. The rate is US $103 plus applicable taxes. Please book your hotel room prior to October 18 directly with the hotel by calling (203) 967-2222 or toll free 1-800-338-9115 and mentioning that you are with the PB Cryptographic Workshop. You will need to designate whether you want smoking or nonsmoking, single or double room and you will need to provide a credit card to hold your reservation.

Travel

The best airports to fly into are John F. Kennedy, La Guardia or Westchester and the following are the directions from the airport and areas nearby to the Stamford Westin.
  • From JFK Airport:
    Take the Whitestone Bridge onto the Hutchinson River Pkwy, leading to the New England Thruway (1-95) North to Exit 7 (Greenwich Ave.). At the end of the ramp, take a right, and then take an immediate right into First Stamford Place. The hotel is at the end of the road.
  • From La Guardia Airport:
    Follow Grand Central Pkwy East to Whitestone Expressway (Route 678) and follow directions from JFK.
  • From Westchester Airport:
    Follow Route 684 to Cross Westchester Expressway (Route 287) East. Approximately 8 miles to New England Thruway (I-95), follow north to exit 7 (Greenwich Ave.). At the end of the ramp, take a right, and then take an immediate right into First Stamford Place. The hotel is at the end of the road.
  • From Manhattan, Southern Connecticut & Westchester:
    Follow New England Thruway (I-95) North to Exit 7 (Greenwich Ave.). At the end of the ramp, take a right, and then take an immediate right into First Stamford Place. The hotel is at the end of the road.
  • From Northern Connecticut on New England Thruway:
    Follow I-95 South to Stamford Exit 6 (West Ave.). At the end of the ramp, turn left at the light. Go under the I-95 overpass. Go to the light and turn left onto the entrance ramp of I-95 North. Go to the next exit which is Exit 7 (Greenwich Ave.). At the end of the ramp, take a right, and then take an immediate right into First Stamford Place. The hotel is at the end of the road.
  • From Northern or Southern Connecticut on Merritt Pkwy.:
    Follow Merritt Parkway to exit 34 (Long Ridge Rd., Route 104). At the end of the ramp take Route 104 South for 2 miles. At a very large merging intersection turn right onto route 137 (Cold Spring Road). Bear left onto Washington Blvd. Continue on Route 137 straight to Tresser Blvd. intersection. Turn right onto Tresser Blvd. (Route 1). Then take 2nd light onto Greenwich Ave. Go straight under I-95 overpass. Turn right at 2nd set of lights into First Stamford Place. The hotel is at the end of the road.
  • From Newark Airport:
    Follow New Jersey Turnpike North to George Washington Bridge. Take New England Thruway (I-95) North to Exit 7 (Greenwich Ave.). At the end of the ramp, take a right, and then take an immediate right into First Stamford Place. The hotel is at the end of the road.
Directions to Pitney Bowes World Headquarters (1 Elm Croft Road):
  • Off of I-95, take Exit 7 (Greenwich Avenue). Continue straight through first intersection to next light. Take a right onto Washington Blvd. Continue 1/2 mile through next intersection (Polaski Street) to stop sign. At stop sign, turn left onto South Pacific Street, then make the first right (just a few feet) onto Dyke Lane. Continue nearly to the end at Dyke Park, and a make a left onto Elm Croft Road. Pitney Bowes World headquarters is a large six-storey building on your right. Continue past Employees parking to outdoor Visitor's Parking lot on your right. (When driving in Stamford, please be careful of one way streets.)
